We can look through shrimp's eyes in a single shot now! | Polarisation Camera
Understand polarisation
As we all know that the Direction of vibration of light is called Polarisation, which is invisible to human beings. But it's visible to shrimp and other insects, which uses it for its defense.
Cameras that use polarisation are used to detect material stress, contrast the objects and other detection of surface of materials, which is costlier and bulky.
Now, it came to the size of a thumb and the camera is in size of a lunchbox. It can take the polarisation object in a single shot.
Applications:
Autonomous vehicles - Vision system
Onboard planes and Satellites - study atmospheric chemistry
Lunchbox Camera
