First-Ever Images of Molecules changing their state | Changing State of Molecules Captured
Images of changing the molecular structure |
Achievement: First images of molecules changing their state
Microscope used : Atomic force Microscopy
The material used: Nacl Crystal
Molecule used: Azobenzene, Pentacene, TCNQ, Porphine
Conditions: Enclosed in a cold vacuum chamber, a small voltage was given to probe (transfer of electrons)
Atomic Force Microscopy |
By electron addition and elimination, the molecules change its state, which is recorded by the probe attached to the cantilever through ups and downs. It is then imaged by electronic data.
